About Me

An image of me sitting at my computer desk

Hi There!

My name is Jess. My interest in web development started back in 2017 and one of my goals is to build accessible applications for everyone!

Previously a graphic design major, I switched over to web development to understand the technical intricacies underneath the hood of web/software applications. It was my curiosity that became part of my self-motivation. Whether I'm finding creative solutions to multifaceted challenges or boosting team communication, morale, and efficiency, I thrive on making a difference and leaving things better than I found them.

Recently, I've been working with: React, Redux, Java, Spring, JavaScript

Projects

  • Project Odyssey: Currently, I am working remote while building projects on the side. One of them is a kanban + productivity app for work purposes. We have a separate project management platform we use to keep track of tasks but I want to build my own for specific use-cases. I think it would be easier for me to drag and drop my own set of tasks for the day. I'm currently outlining the backend for Java and building the frontend with React. Thinking of mySQL for database to store key/values. This app will eventually contain more than a kanban board and work more like an all-in-one productivity tool.

  • Slice of Life Blog: I have been blogging on HashNode but figured on migrating future blogs to my own built platform. This is currently being built with React, Node, and mySQL. Growing up, I enjoyed creative writing and poetry. I figured I can be able to express myself creatively and freely here.
  • Other: In my spare time, I have been playing guitar, reading different non-fiction books and playing Baldurs Gate 3. I also have been cooking more meals at home and have been investing myself at becoming a better "home chef"
